With the arrival of a baby, a new chapter in life begins - for both the child and the mother. Both deserve the kindest care during this time. That's why our new ADVA Baby collection is more than just clothes; it's an expression of what really matters in the fragile early stages of life and motherhood.
Made with love from 100% organic cotton , our upcycled collection " Soft for babies. Strong for mothers. " combines the softness your baby's sensitive skin needs with significant support for mothers' mental health. We donate 100% of the proceeds to the organization Úsměv Mámy , which offers a helping hand to women going through difficult times associated with postpartum psychological difficulties.
A personal journey behind the creation of the collection
The most powerful projects often arise from personal experience and overcoming one's own challenges. "This collaboration was born from my own journey through motherhood, which was not always easy," Aneta, founder of ADVA , openly shares. "After an emergency cesarean section, there were complicated days in the hospital when I couldn't have my baby with me. At home, especially towards the end of the sixth week, panic attacks and anxiety came. Later, I was confirmed to have post-traumatic stress disorder after childbirth."
"For a very long time, I didn't feel like a mom, and my own baby was foreign to me. And unfortunately, that beautiful little mini creature was the trigger for everything negative for me for a long time. I imagined my path to motherhood completely differently."
"It was this experience with postpartum psychological difficulties that opened my eyes and showed me how essential the right support is during this fragile period. Helping others has been part of our brand's DNA since the very beginning. And helping mothers make their journey easier is a priority for me right now."
Why organic, upcycled materials benefit children's health
A baby's skin is not just a scaled-down version of an adult's skin. It is significantly more delicate, with unique properties that make the choice of materials critically important:
Facts about baby skin:
- Fragile barrier : A baby's skin is 20-30% thinner than an adult's skin, making it more permeable to chemicals in clothing
- Higher absorption rate : Babies absorb substances through their skin much faster than adults
- Developing immune system : Babies have less ability to fight off irritants or allergens
How can conventional substances affect the health of children's skin?
Regular children's clothing can contain a number of worrying and toxic substances. These can include residual pesticides from conventional cotton farming, formaldehyde or azo dyes and other toxic chemicals used in dyeing fabrics, for example. Or phthalates and other plasticizers used in synthetic fabrics.
All of these chemicals are associated with skin irritation, allergic reactions, and in some cases, more serious long-term health problems.
Why ADVA Baby: Organic Cotton
Our ADVA Baby x Úsměv Mámy collection uses 100% organic cotton grown in Turkey. The resulting material is GOTS certified . This means that the fabric does not contain any harmful pesticides and fertilizer residues. It contains much fewer potential allergens. It is breathable and gentle on baby's skin. In addition, the entire ADVA Baby collection is made by upcycling offcuts from women's collections, so there is minimal impact on the environment.
"My baby suffered a lot and still suffers from eczema, so I know how important it is to protect the fragile skin barrier. And I'm incredibly happy that we managed to complete the ADVA baby collection and it can be tested and worn by ADVA baby babies themselves."
Connecting with Mental Health: Supporting Mothers through the Mother's Smile Organization
While we have carefully designed this collection for our little ones, it also addresses another crucial aspect of early childhood: maternal mental health.
Hidden challenges of new moms
In the Czech Republic, up to one in five mothers experiences some form of postpartum mood disorder or anxiety, yet these challenges often remain hidden behind the expectation that motherhood should be an exclusively joyful experience.
"At the Mom's Smile organization, we see every day how important it is to support mothers going through postpartum psychological difficulties," says Veronika Kubrichtová, founder of the Mom's Smile organization.
When to seek help?
